Nelson Algren 616 Sound Stage Opening

The Nelson Algren Museum is proud to announce the inauguration of the Nelson Algren 616 Sound Stage! This event features live music on Friday, July 24 and a cash bar. Come ready to dance.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Legacy Foundation, the 616 Sound Stage provides a new Miller venue free of charge for not-for-profits. We look forward to live performances, theatre, readings and whatever else our eccentric community can envision. Contact us for more information.

Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library Forum

Kurt Vonnegut and Nelson Algren were close friends at two periods of their lives. Enjoy the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library's traveling biographical exhibition at the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts from September 18 to Friday, October 2, when Vonnegut Museum curator Chris Lafave discusses Vonnegut's iconoclastic view of the world. Chris began his Vonnegut experience, like many of us, early in life with readings of "Breakfast of Champions" and "Welcome to the Monkey House."

Erik Gellman's new book "Troublemakers"

Erik Gellman returns to Miller to discuss his book, "Troublemakers: Chicago Freedom Struggles through the Lens of Art Shay", an analysis of Art Shay's

photography against a backdrop of civil rights issues. Shay and Algren were partners in many ventures and both deeply connected to the Miller community. While the event date is still to be determined, we do have a limited number of Erik's book available for purchase for $30, delivery included in Northwest Indiana or Chicago. Call us at 773-914-2574 or email sue@nelsonalgrenmuseumofmillerbeach.com to arrange for purchase and delivery.

Due to COVID-19, all events subject to change.
